The National Association of Christian Child and Family Agencies was started in 1993 by a group of Executive Directors of various Christian agencies, desiring to "link" with others in hopes of finding fellowship, mutual encouragement, and opportunities for gatherings that would address issues surrounding child and family care from a Christ-centered perspective. Furthermore, their desire was to promote a standard of excellence among Christian programs. NACCFA set out to give opportunities for fellowship among "like minded" colleagues, provide "arenas" for growth and development, and make a "connection" with people who could pray for one another in their ministries.

Through the years, this association has expanded to include all types of ministries from around the country who come together once a year at a Fall Annual Summit. Throughout the year, contact between agencies happens through regional meetings and personal relationships formed because of a common calling and similarity of purpose in working with children and families.

NACCFA encompasses adoption agencies, maternity homes, residential counseling centers, foster care agencies, youth homes, and placement agencies. The "heart" of NACCFA happens through the development of relationships between individuals within the agencies and their common love for Christ, kids, and families.
