"God loves good people, protects strangers,
takes the side of widows and orphans..." *
A number of NACCFA members and friends participated in the Christian
Alliance for Orphans Summit VI in Minneapolis.
How blessed we were to hear from challenging speakers involved in ministry to Orphans all over the world. The challenge to
get involved and the encouragement to stay involved was tangible.
NACCFA Board Members, Jean Caceres-Gonzalez from His House in Florida; Ken Withrow from Evangelical Child and Family Agency
in Illinois & Wisconsin and Pat Oatis from Christian Haven in Indiana joined NACCFA’s Director, Kay Ekstrom in presenting a
Workshop on “Building a Positive Partnership Between Church Agencies and Government.” It was well attended and prompted many
visits to our NACCFA exhibit area. Many of the visitors were people with a vision to begin a work for children, confirming
the goal of NACCFA to mentor and encourage God’s people to excellence as they respond to the cry of the orphan.
One of the exciting movements speading thoughout the states on behalf of the orphan is called “Safe Families”, We talked with
Dave Anderson, CEO of one of NACCFA’s founding members, Lydia Home Association in Chicago, IL and Tom Bozzuto from Florida Baptist
Children’s Home who shared with us about Sabe Families. It is a movement
in response to the growing numbers of “orphans of the
living”,( that is children whose parents are living, but who are not able or willing to be parents), in our country today.
Safe Families is a Prevention Program that works through faith-based organizations to encourage churches to recruit families who
voluntarily care for children who have not yet entered the foster care system.

Times of learning, sharing, encouragement and fellowship always are part of our NACCFA Gatherings. The CAO SummitVI was no
exception. Plan now to join us next time……watch the E-Zine for more details.
